A large Sycamore Apple, with an Iroko stalk.  This is an unusual piece, with fabulous silk-wood grain patterns either side and a clove in the bottom which makes me think of apple pie!  The silk-wood is produced from how the timber was harvested, based on grain direction when the log was processed.  Sycamore, which is commonly used for food safe items, when prepared correctly, can also reveal the subtle natural beauty in miscategorised ‘bland’ timber.  

Finished in high gloss Carnauba Wax.

Measures 12.5 cms to the top of the stalk and 8 cms wide
